A Brief Note on Breast Cancer
"There is an overwhelming need for evidence-based and resource-stratified guidelines that support the phased implementation of breast cancer early detection and treatment into real-world practice."
– IARC Director Dr Elisabete Weiderpass from IARC Press release.
Breast Cancer is the most identified cancer among women all over the world. Breast Cancer affects one in eight women during their lives. It kills more women in the United States except Lung Cancer. It is in fact the most chronic even for men.
Chances of Breast Cancer is very less in young age but the chances increase with the increase in age. Around the age of 35 to 40, the danger of having Breast Cancer is high. There are no specific identified reasons as for how it gets triggered. But risk factors like age, genes BRCA1 and BRCA2, irregular menstrual cycle, being overweight, hormone replacement therapy, taking birth control pills, consumption of alcohol, smoking, unhealthy lifestyle, child birth after thirty-five or having dense breasts.
Radiation around us is also an important cause which increases the chances of cancer in humans. In women, wearing the wrong size bra or bad quality bra or unhealthy bra like lace bras or bras with underwire is a very frequent cause for breast cancer.
As the name suggests, it is a cancer which occurs in mammary glands or breasts in a human. Cancer is basically production of unwanted cells in our body which sometimes is out of control to the extent it becomes a tumor or a lump. Those unwanted cells dominate the wanted cells by taking up all the nutrients. This can happen in any part of your body.
If there is a frequent itching and pain in your breast or if lumps are identified in breast cancer or if the skin around breast is very wrinkly or swollen, then these are signs for immediate checkups. You should run to doctors. As soon as Breast Cancer is identified, it would be much easy and feasible to treat it.
